Election malpractice responsible for voter apathy -Atiku

Published

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, ascribed what he described as low turnout of voters for the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Adamawa State to ‘election malpractice’ allegedly perpetrated by the Federal Government in the last election.

Atiku arrived at Ajiya ward 012 at Yola North in Mercedes Benz S550 with number plate RH 02 AD around 12.30pm and voted three minutes later.

While speaking with journalists after casting his votes, Atiku condemned using the military for election, noting that it was a ploy to manipulate election process.

He said, “You can see that there is a low turnout of voters. I believe that the last election was marred by malpractices.

“I call in our supporters to keep faith with us even though the processes has no faith. To rectify this requires coming together of one Nigerians. The leadership must be able to redress all the challenges we faced in the last election.

“I am particularly appalled by the participation of the military in electoral processes. It is absolutely unconstitutional. I am always hopeful that my party will win.”
