Parts of Lagos will face a 25-day power outage starting Monday, July 28, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company announced on Friday.

The electricity company made the announcement through a post on its official X handle, saying the daily blackout will run from 8am to 5pm until August 21.

The reason for the long outage, according to Eko DisCo, is to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out major work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV line.

A spokesperson for the company explained, “EKEDC has announced a daily planned power outage from Monday, 28 July, to Thursday, 21 August 2025, due to essential maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330 kV line.”

The spokesperson added, “The outage will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day, affecting several parts of Lagos and other serviced areas.”

The company also said customers should prepare for unstable power during the period.

“During this period, residents should expect intermittent electricity supply and load shedding across the Eko Disco network,” the handler stated.

Eko DisCo urged affected customers to be patient and assured that normal service would return once the TCN finishes its maintenance work.
