The Ekiti State Government has officially confirmed the abduction of six pupils, three teachers, and a bus driver from a private school in Emure-Ekiti.
The victims were taken on Monday night while returning from Eporo-Ekiti.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji, in a statement, condemned the act as callous and unacceptable, assuring the citizens that all necessary efforts are being made to rescue the abducted individuals.
“The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has urged the citizens of the state not to despair over Monday’s kidnapping of some school pupils and their teachers in Emure- Ekiti, assuring that efforts are on to get the children and their teachers rescued,” the statement read.
Security agencies in the state have been mobilized and are actively pursuing the abductors, with the primary goal of ensuring the safe return of the pupils and teachers. Governor Oyebanji emphasized that no effort would be spared in securing the release of the victims.
The Ekiti State Government disclosed that security measures are being intensified across the state to locate and apprehend criminal elements.
The governor called on citizens to remain calm and vigilant, urging their cooperation with security agencies by providing relevant information to aid the ongoing efforts.
