Ekiti gov election to hold June 2026 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Ekiti State Governorship Election for Saturday, June 20, 2026.

This announcement aligns with the provisions of Section 28 (1) and (2) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

According to INEC, the election will take place across all 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State, with voting expected to begin at 8:30 a.m. in the state’s 2,445 designated polling units.

The commission also issued a public notice detailing eligibility requirements and guidelines for voter accreditation.

INEC emphasized that only individuals whose names are listed in the Register of Voters and who hold a valid Permanent Voter Card will be allowed to cast their votes.

Furthermore, voters will be permitted to vote only at the polling units where they are registered.

The commission also confirmed the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System for voter verification and accreditation on election day.

Part of the INEC statement reads:
“NOTE THAT: ✓ ONLY PERSONS WHOSE NAMES APPEAR ON THE REGISTER OF VOTERS AND HAVE VALID PERMANENT VOTER CARD SHALL BE ALLOWED TO VOTE; ✓ VOTERS SHALL ONLY VOTE AT POLLING UNITS WHERE THEY ARE REGISTERED; ✓ THE BIMODAL VOTER ACCREDITATION SYSTEM (BVAS) SHALL BE USED FOR THE ACCREDITATION OF VOTERS; ✓ NO PVC, NO VOTING.”

The commission concluded the notice with its official tagline: “INEC, Making Your Vote Count … Consolidating Our Democracy.”
