Ekiti approves N4.15bn for road, agric, hostel construction

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved N4.15 billion for several projects, including road rehabilitation, building renovations, agriculture, and hostel construction.

The Commissioner for Information,Taiwo Olatunbosun, announced the approvals on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. Olatunbosun explained that the funds will be used for:

The council approved N2.71 billion for the rehabilitation of the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti.

The contract was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.

Olatunbosun said, “Rehabilitation of the road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion around Adebayo to Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti, boost socio-economic activities in the area, and enhance the security and quality of life for residents and property owners along the road.” The project is expected to be completed in 12 months.

The state government approved N701 million for the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission building.

The contract was given to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited and is expected to be completed in 12 weeks.

The council approved N229 million for the procurement of farm machinery. This includes three 5075E Tractors, three Fieldking 3 Disc Ploughs, one Fieldking 22 Disc Harrow, and two Fieldking Ridger 2 Rows.

Olatunbosun said, “The approval is a demonstration of the unwavering resolve and commitment of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration to transform the Agriculture Sector through targeted initiatives aimed at empowering farmers and boosting production along the value chain.” This procurement contract, awarded to AGCOMS International Trading Limited, is expected to be completed in four weeks.

The state government approved N177.9 million to clear 325 hectares of land for youths from various local governments in the state. This initiative aims to support the ‘Youths In Agriculture’ program and empower farmers.

The state also approved N329.4 million for constructing a 100-bed hostel at Command Secondary School, Isan Ekiti. The project, expected to be completed in 12 weeks, will provide full boarding facilities for students and is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Nigeria Army.

Olatunbosun highlighted that these projects are part of the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, support agriculture, and enhance educational facilities in Ekiti State.
