The Peoples Democratic Party has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the cost of fuel, electricity, and other essential services, as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement released on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP urged the President to use the remaining two years of his term to focus on improving the lives of Nigerians.
“The PDP urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use this period of Eid-el-Kabir, which represents selflessness and submission to God, to review policies that are making life difficult for citizens,” the statement said.
The party said the government should reduce fuel prices, electricity tariffs, and high charges on basic services that many Nigerians now struggle to afford.
Ologunagba also called for prayers for Nigeria, encouraging citizens not to lose hope despite the hard economic and security conditions in the country.
“The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time, and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation,” the party stated.
The PDP said the Eid celebration should also remind leaders to fear God, fight corruption, and recover stolen public funds.
“Such stolen funds must be recovered and channeled towards the provision of critical infrastructure, revamping the productive sector, and enhancing the operations of our security agencies,” the statement added.
The party also used the opportunity to wish Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
