The Jigawa State Police Command says it has deployed operatives and activated all operational assets to ensure peaceful and hitch free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state.
According to The Punch, the assurance was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Shi’isu Adam.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Yahaya, felicitated residents and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety during the festive period.
“Residents are assured that the Command has deployed robust security measures and activated all operational assets across the state to guarantee maximum security before, during, and after the celebration,” Adam stated.
He explained that personnel from tactical and conventional police units had been strategically deployed to Eid praying grounds, markets, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public places.
The deployment includes operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit, Patrol Teams, Intelligence Units, Traffic Officers, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Police Mobile Force personnel, and undercover operatives.
According to the statement, the police are also collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders to strengthen security measures across the state.
“We have intensified intelligence gathering, confidence building patrols, stop and search operations, and surveillance activities aimed at preventing criminal activities,” the statement added.
The police command urged residents to remain law abiding and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and useful information.
Parents and guardians were also advised to caution their children against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding, substance abuse, and any act capable of causing a breach of peace during the celebrations.
“The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and assures residents that no stone will be left unturned,” Adam said.
