The Federal Government has announced Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as conveyed in a statement released on Sunday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.
In the statement, Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to all Muslims for successfully completing the fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. He urged them to embrace and practice virtues such as kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, in line with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
“The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 9th and Wednesday, 10th April, 2024 as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the statement read.
Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians to foster peace and harmony in the country. He wished the Muslim community a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prayed for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah upon everyone and the nation.
