Renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio Atawewe, has opened up about his relationship with fellow Fuji icons Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Saheed Osupa, stating that what is often perceived as rivalry in the genre is largely a matter of ego and mutual respect rather than genuine hostility.

In a conversation, Atawewe addressed long-standing speculations regarding tension among top Fuji artists, particularly between himself and Pasuma, with whom he has shared stages and professional spaces over the years.

“Myself and Pasuma have been together for a long time and we know how to solve our issues whenever any arises. Yes he is older than me but I can’t call him ‘bros’ because we were not born by the same parents but I accord him the respect he deserves. We are all grown ups and we know that respect is reciprocal,” he said.

The musician also clarified his relationship with Saheed Osupa, another prominent figure in the Fuji scene, stating that contrary to widespread assumptions, there is no animosity between them.

“The issues we have in Fuji music is ego and self-respect. There’s no serious misunderstanding. I and Saheed Osupa are on good terms and so is Alhaji Shina Akanni who is our elder brother in the industry,” he added.

Atawewe’s remarks come at a time when the Fuji music scene is facing generational transitions, rival fan base dynamics, and the challenge of balancing personal branding with public expectations in a highly competitive industry.
