The Federal Government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have pledged to fight fake news in Nigeria.

This announcement was made during the official commissioning of the EFCC Radio, 97.3 FM, in Abuja.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the Chairman of EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, emphasized their commitment to this cause.

Idris praised the EFCC for its strong efforts against economic and financial crimes. “No Nigerian today can ignore, deny, or dismiss the impact of the EFCC,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of the new radio station in fighting false narratives and fake news.

“The EFCC Radio will empower us to combat fake news and provide accurate information about the commission’s work.”

Idris assured the EFCC of increased support and collaboration in operating the radio station and other commission activities.

EFCC Chairman Olukoyede described the radio station as a significant milestone.

He condemned the spread of fake news, saying, “Fake news does a great disservice to the work of the EFCC. This radio station will help us tell our stories more accurately.”

Senator Emmanuel Udende, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Anti-corruption and Financial Crimes, also spoke at the event.

He called corruption a monster that cripples the nation’s growth and development.

Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Crimes, Honourable Kayode Akinolu, encouraged all Nigerians to tune in to EFCC Radio. “Public enlightenment is essential in the fight against graft,” he said.
