The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained two supporters of the National Democratic Coalition presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following their appearance at the agency’s office in Abuja.

The supporters were identified as Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, and Peter Akah, also known as Randy Peter.

The development was made public late Wednesday by Obi’s personal photographer, Esther Umoh, through a post on X.

She disclosed that the duo had honoured an invitation from the anti-graft agency but remained in custody several hours after reporting to the commission.

“@MamaPee__ and @Peter4Nigeria were invited by the EFCC in Abuja, and as respectful citizens, they honored the invitation today. But as I type this, they are yet to be released by the commission,” she wrote.

A review of the X accounts belonging to Mama Pee and Randy Peter showed that their most recent posts were published on Tuesday. The posts focused on the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scam involving the self-acclaimed Director-General of the council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, and President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC had not disclosed the reason for inviting or detaining the two supporters. Peter Obi had also not issued any public statement regarding the incident.
