The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has brought charges against the Managing Director of Faris Construction Company Limited, Salisu Suleiman, and his company, accusing them of misappropriating N21 million.
The arraignment took place on Friday before Justice Hadiza Suleiman at the Kano State High Court in Kano.
According to the charge, Suleiman and his company are accused of dishonestly misappropriating the sum of N21,000,000, which was payment for the supply of 125,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil to their construction site in Nguru Local Government, Yobe State, by SID Oil and Gas Limited.
The charge states that Suleiman “committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 309 of the same law.”
However, during the court proceedings, Suleiman pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Aisha Habib, requested a trial date, while the defense counsel, Mardiyya Dawaki, applied for bail for the defendant.
Habib opposed the bail application, citing the defendant’s previous breach of administrative bail granted by the EFCC.
Justice Suleiman, in response, remanded Suleiman in EFCC’s custody and set a date for the hearing on the bail application.
