Seventy-four suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission during a raid on a hotel in Abuja.

The suspects were picked up early Monday at Joyous Hotel in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, following intelligence reports linking them to cybercrime activities.

According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, operatives stormed the hotel and found several items believed to be used in online fraud. These include 86 mobile phones, three motorcycles, and a pistol.

In a statement released after the operation, Oyewale said, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 74 suspected internet fraudsters. They were arrested on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Joyous Hotel, Nyanya in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.”

He confirmed that the suspects would be taken to court once investigations are completed.

The arrests come as the anti-graft agency continues its clampdown on cybercrime across the country.
