Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested 59 suspected internet fraudsters at the Abacha Road, Mararaba axis of Nasarawa State.

The commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, saying the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent cyber activities.

“The suspects were arrested after intelligence reports indicated their alleged involvement in internet fraud,” Oyewale stated.

During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered 73 mobile phones of different brands from the suspects.

The anti-graft agency assured that investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

“The commission has commenced investigations into the matter, and the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly,” Oyewale added.

The EFCC has continued to intensify its clampdown on internet fraud, warning young Nigerians against engaging in cybercrime.
