EFCC arrests 21 suspected internet fraudsters, seizes luxury items in Bauchi

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi State.

The EFCC’s Gombe Zonal Directorate carried out the raid on Saturday, March 15, 2025, after receiving credible intelligence about the suspects’ involvement in cybercrime.

In a statement shared on X on Monday, the commission said the arrests took place at Kaure New Government Reservation Area and Awala, Maiduguri Road, Bauchi.

During the operation, the EFCC seized several luxury items linked to the suspects.

“Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include one BMW and Toyota Camry cars, three PlayStation 5, 30 expensive phones, one flat-screen television set, six Point of Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops,” the EFCC said in its statement.

The anti-graft agency also confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court once investigations are completed.

“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud… They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.

The EFCC has been cracking down on cybercrime across Nigeria, warning young people to stay away from fraudulent activities.
