One of the aides of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, former president of Nigeria, Reno Omokri has shifted his attention to the governorship election in Edo State.

On Thursday night he made a salient observation about the campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representatives.

He posted a picture of the branded rice bags distributed to the party’s supporters, observing that it was imported rice instead of the locally grown rice. Beside the rice bags branded with the portraits of the incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomole and the APC governorship hopeful Godwin Obaseki, Omokri posted a picture of the rice bag grown and packaged in Anambra State.

“Even if you must use rice to bribe voters, at least support the local economy by giving out made-in-Nigeria rice!” he wrote as the caption.

Earlier in the year, before the country was officially pronounced to be in recession, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki and the Senator  representing the Bayelsa East constituency, Ben Murray-Bruce, had been in the forefront of the campaign for Nigerians to buy ‘made-in-Nigeria’ products to strengthen the country’s economy.
