Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Oahimire, over alleged financial misconduct.
The suspension was announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
According to the statement, Dr Oahimire was suspended following serious allegations of financial and official wrongdoing.
“The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire over allegations of grave financial and official infractions,” the statement said.
It added that the most senior officer in the agency would take over in acting capacity while a special committee investigates the matter.
“Consequently, most senior staff of the agency will act in functioning capacity pending the outcome of a special committee to be constituted by the government to investigate the various allegations,” the government said.
Dr Oahimire is yet to respond to the suspension or the allegations against him.
The Edo State government said it will take necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation.
