About two million eligible voters are expected to cast their votes in Edo State today, September 28, 2016 as the rescheduled governorship election takes place across the 18 local government areas in the state.
Prior to today, the air across Edo state was filled with expectation and anxiety following counter accusations from the two major parties in the state, the All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, on an alleged plot of some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to compromise the credibility of the exercise.
Reports from our correspondents in Edo state this morning inform that voting exercises have been going on smoothly in some centres. While there have also been reports of disruptions at some voting centers due to malfunctioning of card readers.
