The Edo State House of Assembly has officially recalled two lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after suspending them for five months.

The lawmakers, Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), were suspended on May 6, 2024, alongside Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) over allegations of plotting to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers.

Bright Iyamu was earlier recalled in June after showing remorse, according to the Speaker of the Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku.

During Wednesday’s plenary session in Benin, Speaker Agbebaku announced the recall of the remaining two lawmakers, marking the end of their suspension. He expressed gratitude for their return and praised the assembly members for their dedication to passing important bills and resolutions.

In his speech, Agbebaku also congratulated the state governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the recent governorship election.

He noted that Okpebholo would serve all Edo people, not just the All Progressives Congress, and hoped the governor-elect would not be misled by sycophants.

Additionally, the assembly approved a 57-day calendar for the second quarter of its second session, setting the legislative agenda for the coming months.
