A former Chairman of Nigeria Breweries Plc, Asue Ighodalo, has thrown his hat into the ring, declaring himself “the best man for the job.”
Leveraging his extensive experience in the private sector and a deep understanding of the state’s economic potential, Ighodalo promises to revitalize Edo and empower its people.
Boasting a career serving as chairman of various companies, Ighodalo, a native of Ewohimi in Edo Central, emphasizes his independence from any political factions. He asserts his candidacy stems solely from a genuine desire to serve and uplift Edo.
“I am not here as anyone’s candidate,” declares Ighodalo. “I am offering myself because of my passion for Edo’s economic strength. We have so much potential – from agriculture to tourism – to lift our people out of poverty.”
He envisions Edo as a thriving hub with robust infrastructure, including “good roads, pipe-borne water, good hospitals, and schools.” Recognizing the sacrifice of leaving his corporate comfort zone, he emphasizes his commitment to integrity and service.
“It wasn’t easy to leave the private sector,” admits Ighodalo. “But the chance to empower millions outweighs any personal comfort. My experience and connections will be invaluable assets to the state.”
Beyond immediate economic concerns, Ighodalo pledges to prioritize youth inclusion in his government. “The youth are brimming with talent and ideas,” he says. “They deserve a seat at the table to build the future of Edo.”
Seeking to unite the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Ighodalo calls for reconciliation and collaboration. “Let’s bury our differences and work together for the party’s success, and ultimately, the success of Edo,” he urges.
