Former Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, has announced his retirement from professional football at 32.

The Belgian winger, who revealed his decision on his Instagram page, thanked his fans, family, friends, coaches, teammates, and clubs for their support throughout his career.

The former Real Madrid player had been without a club since his departure from the Spanish giants in the summer, marking the end of a four-season stint during which he made just 76 appearances.

Following his exit from Real Madrid, any hopes of a return to top-tier football seemed to fade, as Hazard hinted at the possibility of hanging up his boots for good.

While there was reported interest from English clubs in signing him after his Real Madrid exit, concerns regarding his fitness appeared to be a significant obstacle.

In the heartfelt message posted on his Instagram page, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid star expressed his decision to bid farewell to his football career.

Hazard stated, “You must listen to yourself and know when to call it quits. After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I was fortunate to live my dream, playing and enjoying the game on many pitches worldwide.”

He expressed gratitude to the numerous managers, coaches, and teammates he encountered throughout his career, acknowledging the clubs he represented, which included LOSC, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, as well as the Belgian Selection.

Hazard also extended special thanks to his family, friends, advisors, and those who stood by him through both good and challenging times.
