The Federal Road Safety Corps in Lagos has warned motorists to drive safely during the Easter holiday to avoid accidents and loss of lives.

The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, gave the warning on Thursday during a media briefing held along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The event was part of the agency’s monitoring tour ahead of Easter celebrations.

In a statement by the Sector Public Education Officer, Elizabeth Jayeola, Hamzat said the FRSC has deployed officers and vehicles, including two new patrol vans donated by the Lagos State Government, to keep roads safe across the state.

“Both Regular and Special Marshals have been positioned along major roads, inner streets, and festive routes to help ease traffic and protect all road users during the 2025 Easter period,” he said.

Hamzat also announced that ambulances would be on standby along important routes to quickly respond to emergencies.

“We are working with other traffic and emergency agencies to make sure people can move in and out of Lagos smoothly this season,” he added.

To enforce road rules, the sector commander said mobile courts will be available to try traffic offenders immediately. The focus will be on serious offences such as drunk driving, speeding, use of expired tyres, seat belt violations, and using phones while driving.

“Drivers must avoid alcohol and drugs while on the road. One night of fun should not lead to a lifetime of pain. Fix your wipers, drive carefully, and remember—your family is waiting for you,” Hamzat warned.

He also advised pedestrians to be alert, avoid crossing roads carelessly, and pay attention to their surroundings.

“FRSC Lagos is committed to a safe and crash-free Easter. We urge everyone to play their part,” the statement added.
