The Christian Association of Nigeria has urged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying the message of Easter brings encouragement, strength, and victory in tough times.
The President of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, gave this message on Sunday in his Easter address. He said many Nigerians, especially Christians in places facing insecurity and persecution, are going through hard times, but they should remain strong.
“We remain mindful of the many challenges faced by our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially in regions where they endure persecution for their beliefs. Yet, even in the face of adversity, the spirit of Easter endures,” he said.
Archbishop Okoh reminded Nigerians that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a clear sign that difficult times do not last forever.
“It reminds us that, just as Christ rose from the dead, we too can rise above trials through faith, resilience, and unity,” he added.
He also described Easter as a celebration of God’s power over pain and death, saying, “The resurrection affirms that light will always triumph over darkness, and love will conquer fear.”
The CAN leader encouraged Christians to use the Easter season to reflect, pray, and show love and kindness to others, especially the poor and those in pain.
“I urge all Christians to use this Easter season as a time for deep reflection, earnest prayer, and spiritual renewal. Let us strengthen our bonds of fellowship, extend compassion to those in need, and strive to build a more just and caring society,” he said.
He also called on Nigerians to live in peace with people of other religions and work together to build unity across the country.
“In the spirit of Easter, may we reach out to neighbours of other faiths, fostering mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. May this season be one of harmony and goodwill for all Nigerians,” he added.
Archbishop Okoh prayed that the joy of Christ’s resurrection would fill the hearts of all Nigerians and give them strength in difficult times.
“May our hearts be filled with the message of victory that Easter brings, to strengthen us in the face of adversity,” he said.
