The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has said the ongoing digital registration of party members remains the most reliable means of identifying genuine members of the party.
Omale stated that the nationwide electronic registration exercise is aimed at strengthening the party’s internal structure and positioning it for future electoral victories, including the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, in 2027.
He spoke during the official launch of the APC membership e-registration exercise held in his hometown, Ohimini Local Government Area of the state.
The APC chairman noted that wide participation in the exercise would create greater opportunities for party members, describing the process as a strategic pathway toward sustaining the party’s electoral fortunes.
He stressed that ‘it’s also a way for to reelect governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu in 2027.’
According to Omale, loyalty and dedication among party members are critical, as the digital registration platform will serve as the foundation for political relevance, internal democracy, and electoral achievements within the party.
He warned that party stakeholders who fail to participate in the registration process could undermine the strength of the APC at both the state and national levels.
His words: “In today’s political environment, data is power. A party that does not know its members, cannot protect them, mobilize them or defend their votes.
“E-registration gives us a verified, credible, digital membership register that will determine who votes in party primaries, who is recognized as a member, who qualifies for appointments, and who the party stands with during elections.
“Let me be very clear, If your name is not in the APC E-registration database, you are politically invisible”.
He further explained that the outcome of the exercise would determine those eligible to participate in selecting the party’s candidates, as well as beneficiaries of opportunities under APC-led governments.
Omale emphasised that no political actor, regardless of status or influence, can afford to stay outside the registration process, describing the initiative as central to shaping the future of the APC.
He added that safeguarding the party’s membership structure from opportunism and external interference is essential, noting that Governor Hyacinth Alia has given full backing to the exercise.
According to him, the governor understands that a strong political party must be built on a transparent and credible membership database, and he called on stakeholders at all levels to ensure the success of the programme.
He urged ward leaders, local government party chairmen, as well as appointed and elected officials, to mobilise members, oversee the registration exercise, and ensure its integrity is maintained.
