A Shahed unmanned drone struck Britain’s RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus overnight, resulting in limited material damage, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday.
“I want to be clear: Our country does not participate in any way and does not intend to be part of any military operation,” Christodoulides said in a statement.
Earlier, sources told Reuters that two drones had targeted the base, with one successfully intercepted before impact.
The president added that he remains in ongoing communication with European counterparts and other officials regarding the evolving situation.
