Following reports that former WWE Champion Sheamus (Stephen Farrelly) is set to part ways with WWE, Drew McIntyre has seemingly acknowledged his longtime friend’s exit with a heartfelt but understated social media tribute.
Sheamus was recently shifted to WWE’s Alumni section, indicating the conclusion of his latest tenure with the company after reports suggested he turned down a revised contract offer.
McIntyre, who has maintained a close friendship with Sheamus since before both men became WWE stars, shared two nostalgic photos of the pair on social media. One of the images captured their memorable showdown at WrestleMania 39, where they competed in a critically praised Triple Threat match against GUNTHER for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Instead of sharing an extended farewell message, McIntyre kept his caption brief, using only a clover emoji and a burger emoji to accompany the pictures.
The burger reference connected to one of McIntyre’s most memorable promos directed at Sheamus, in which he humorously claimed his longtime friend looked like he had been eating “burger after burger after burger.”
