Drama as DJ Switch shades Nigerian investigative journalists

Nigerians have expressed shock over an unprovoked attack on the country’s journalists by Obianuju Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch.

The disc jockey rose to prominence during the #ENDSARS demonstration and the controversial #LekkiShooting incident which occurred on October 20, 2020.

However, following allegation of insecurity and attempts on her life, she found refuge in Canada where she was granted asylum.

In a tweet posted via her official Twitter account on Monday, the songwriter and musician described the country’s investigative reporters as mediocre who only write for clicks.
While urging the masses to learn to read and research on issues, DJ Switch was stressed that “Fake news” tends to excite some people.

“Fake News” got some people crying Face with tears of joy. Nigerians, learn to read & research as a lot of our supposed “investigative journalists” don’t know their job and act so unprofessionally just for clicks! Plus, the truth does not need defence only exposure,” she said.

DJ Switch’s comment generated a backlash from angry Nigerians who stormed her Twitter account with expletives.

A Twitter user, Oluwatuyi Gbenga chided the self-exiled musician who she described as lies fabricator.

Another tweep, Akin Anu, believed that she was trying too hard to get any substantial to buttress her asylum case.

Oluwatayo Femi, on his part, stated that he found her accusation ironic as she equally leveraged on the same ‘fake news’ to launch herself in the first place.

However, other respondents such as @eedokpa came to her rescue, saying the social media trolling of DJ Switch was the handiwork of Buhari Media Campaigners.

 

His position was justified by another tweep, @TheCitezen who alleged that those trolling the entertainer were paid.
