An unnamed lawyer was attacked by defendant in a cybercrime case during an interview.
In a video-making round on social media, the lawyer in the video explained a case of cybercrime in which an online trading platform allegedly duped some people.
The lawyer said in the video, “This issue has to do with cybercrime, the highest of its kind in this country.
“We are talking about over a 100million dollars where somebody used a particular online platform to dupe Nigerians and these are the victims of the crime.”
However, the defendant in the case, who is later identified as CEO of Afriq Arbitrage System,Jesam Michael, and another man attacked the lawyer, who caused a rancor and ended the interview with the lawyer.
Subsequently, Michael, in the same video interview, said, “We are against anyone going to social media, taking up pictures and videos, airing out fake stories that Abayomi didn’t steal money; Abayomi has never been arrested for one day, the police scripted the whole job, it was a prank.
“We keep saying that if you think Abayomi didn’t steal money, why not go to the police station and ask the police officers who investigated the case is, go to court, where the case his and do your findings.”
Jesam Michael, in a report by TECHNEXT in October 2023, was alleged of neglecting the investors of the platforms, although he had made a profit and fulfilled part of the promise to the investors.
He was also reported to have promoted shady trading platforms that scammed people and went ahead to create his own after the trading platform failed.
