Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised concerns over the newly unveiled logo of the All Democratic Alliance, criticising the use of corn (maize) as its central symbol.

Speaking on Sunday, June 22, the cleric warned that while the logo choice may weaken the coalition’s credibility, President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress should not dismiss the political threat the group poses ahead of the 2027 elections.

Recall that the ADA, recently launched by a coalition of anti-Tinubu political figures—comprising northern elites and southern politicians—is being positioned as a formidable platform to challenge President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Despite the strategic intent behind its formation, the party’s emblem has sparked controversy and online ridicule.

Originally meant to reflect agricultural growth and grassroots strength, the maize motif quickly triggered widespread mockery, owing to its symbolic association with President Tinubu’s earlier campaign references to “agbado” (corn).

His past remarks in 2021 and 2022 about economic self-sufficiency through local crops had drawn criticism and become the subject of satire.

Commenting on the issue, Primate Ayodele criticised the design decision, suggesting it undermines the seriousness of the coalition.

“Tinubu must not underestimate this coalition for certain reasons I have been saying. But the coalition, they’ve done something wrong, they didn’t need the agbado (corn) inside that their flag. That’s it. You fail when you don’t have the counsel of God,” he said.

While pointing out what he termed a symbolic misstep, the religious leader maintained that the coalition still has the potential to disrupt Tinubu’s political ambitions if underestimated.
