Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has on warned Nigerians not to joke with COVID-19.
The deadly virus has infected at least 91,351 persons in the country with a total of 1,318 deaths, according to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control data of Monday, January 4, 2021.
Speaking during the inauguration of a remodelled foyer of the University of Lagos’s Senate Building on January 4th, Olukoya said that some Nigerians do not believe in the reality of the virus and they need to be convinced that it exists.
According to Olukoya, he can confirm that the virus exists because he has prayed for a number of infected COVID-19 patients.
As such, the cleric urged Nigerians to obey the safety rules laid down by the government such as wearing masks and observation of social distancing, amongst others while they pray that the pandemic ends.
“The first thing is to convince the populace that it is real because some people don’t believe it exists. But I am a man of God and I have prayed for so many people with the same infirmity and I know that it exists.
“So, we should not joke with it. People should obey all the rules. And most importantly, we should pray that this pandemic will go away” Olukoya said.
At the time of this report, there are a total of 86,179,034 people have been infected by COVID-19 while 1,862,388 have died across the world, WuzupNigeria confirms, quoting Worldometers.
