The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic worker, Divine Nnalue, for allegedly stealing his employer’s car and fleeing with it to Delta State.

Nnalue was said to have taken the black Toyota Camry, with registration number ENU 289 JF, from his boss’s residence at Trinity Avenue, Federal Housing Estate in 33, near Onitsha.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday. He said the suspect was caught on June 13 at Ugbeji-Okpanam, near Asaba in Delta State, by officers from the 33 Police Station after they carried out an intelligence-driven investigation.

“Police operatives attached to the 33 Police Station in the late evening of June 13, 2025, acting on intelligence, arrested one Divine Nnalue at Ugbeji-Okpanam very close to Asaba,” the statement said.

According to the police, Nnalue confessed during questioning that he sold the car to an unknown person.

The statement added, “Given the suspect’s confession, police are now working on the information to recover the stolen car and arrest anyone else involved in the crime.”

SP Ikenga also used the opportunity to stress the police command’s readiness to track and arrest anyone who breaks the law.

“This arrest shows the ability of the police to track down suspects who betray trust and commit criminal acts. It also demonstrates our commitment to protecting the property of residents and ensuring justice is served,” he said.

The police say efforts are ongoing to recover the car and arrest other persons connected to the case.
