Dogara laments voter apathy in Bauchi
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has decried low turnout of voters in at the gubernatorial and state Assembly elections in Bauchi state.
He said that the low turnout was as a result of fear by electorates that their votes may not count after the conduct of the election.
“From the conduct of the election, I think, it is peaceful, but what I have seen here is that there is no mammoth crowd like the last election.
“I don’t know what happened and some of you who were here during the election saw the crowd, but I can’t see that kind of turn out here today. I don’t know what is responsible for that,” he said.
Dogara who called on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to be fair and respect the wishes of the electorates commended the people of his constituencies by being peaceful during the process of the election and urged them to remain law abiding.
