Veteran Nigerian Disc Jockey, Olusaforijimi Adewale Amu professionally as known DJ Jimmy Jatt, has shared his extraordinary journey of resilience, detailing how he overcame significant health challenges that spanned across Nigeria and the United States.
The 58-year-old recounting his ordeal, he revealed that his health troubles began in 2020 when he started experiencing medical complications amidst the global travel restrictions.
“I lost my sight in 2020,” he said, explaining that the situation required urgent medical intervention.
He underwent surgery and partially regained his vision, though not without complications.
“I lost sight completely in one eye, and the other wasn’t all that good either. I had two surgeries within eight months, which eventually revived my vision,” he shared.
Despite recovering his sight, his health challenges persisted. Seeking a fresh start and further medical care, he relocated to the United States.
However, while in the U.S., he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. “This meant my kidney popped up, and I had to be on dialysis for a while,” he explained.
Determined to improve his condition, he eventually returned to Nigeria to undergo a kidney transplant.
“After the transplant, I needed time for recovery, to be quiet and heal properly,” he added. Once fully discharged, he resumed his journey, leaving Nigeria again to rebuild his life.
The veteran DJ recently celebrated Jatt’s 40th year in the entertainment industry and his comeback after been away for a time of recuperation.
