Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has sparked reactions online. This happened after he referred to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as “daddy” following his release from prison. The news that DJ Chicken released from prison quickly spread, raising interest among fans and critics alike.
According to Vanguard, the entertainer shared a photograph of Seyi Tinubu on his Instagram Stories. He did this shortly after leaving the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
He accompanied the photograph with the caption, “Hmm ddddy,”. Moreover, he also changed his Instagram display picture to an image of the President’s son after DJ Chicken released from prison.
DJ Chicken regained his freedom after spending nearly two weeks in custody. This was over allegations connected to comments he made in a viral social media video.
Announcing his release in a video posted online, the content creator appeared alongside his lawyer. Then, he expressed gratitude for regaining his freedom as DJ Chicken released from prison was watched by supporters.
“I’m back oo, freedom at last,” he said.
“God bless the Nigerian government, God bless Seyi Tinubu, and our president. I love you guys. It is not easy, my fans. People that are free don’t know what God has done for them. Freedom is good.”
The entertainer had been arraigned on a three-count charge. The charges bordered on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and an alleged threat against Seyi Tinubu. Notably, DJ Chicken released from prison continues to generate debate due to these circumstances.
The case followed the circulation of a video in which DJ Chicken allegedly said President Tinubu would not secure re-election in 2027.
He was also accused of making threatening remarks against the President’s son.
Following criticism over the video, DJ Chicken withdrew the statements and apologised. He explained that he made them as a joke to attract attention and increase his popularity online.
Despite the apology, security operatives arrested him and brought him before a court. The court then ordered his remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
His release, praise for the government and decision to use Seyi Tinubu’s photograph on his Instagram profile have since generated mixed reactions among social media users.
While some users viewed his actions as an expression of gratitude after his time in custody, others questioned the sudden public display of admiration for the President’s son.
DJ Chicken has not provided further explanation for calling Seyi Tinubu “daddy” or changing his Instagram display picture.
