Dispatch rider, friend, arrested for stealing company’s bike in Ogun
A Lagos dispatch rider, one 26-year-old Francis Obey and his friend, Emmanuel Abah, 21 have been arrested on Christmas Day by men of the Ogun State Police Command.
Police said the duo was arrested “while eloping with a motorcycle belonging to their employer’s company.”
The police said they have earlier received a distress call from a Lagos-based company at the command’s control room that a dispatch rider with the company, who was sent to deliver an item to a client had eloped with the item and the motorcycle.
It was gathered that the said rider headed towards Sagamu-Ore road with the stolen bike.
Upon the information, policemen along that axis were duly mobilised to be on the lookout for the motorcycle.
“At about 12:30 am, policemen attached to Ogbere division sighted the motorcycle at J4 area with two occupants and they were promptly arrested.
“The two suspects are currently being detained at the station while the motorcycle had been recovered, the Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed.
The State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the state CIID to investigate the issue for onward transfer to the Lagos State Police Command, which is the jurisdiction of the crime.
