Disabled man confined to wheelchair for 17yrs graduates as lawyer
A Ghanaian man who has been confined to the wheelchair for seventeen years has graduated from law school and called to bar on Thursday, December 17th.
According to a Facebook user, Nene Addo who shared the story on the platform, the young man was determined to achieve his dream of becoming a lawyer despite his disability.
He further revealed that the young man gained admission to the university to study law, after two failed attempts.
Sharing the story Nene stated that the man contracted an undisclosed illness which left him paralyzed and unable to use his legs again.
His post reads,
“From Nima to the Law School. An example of determination and perseverance. Born and bread in Nima without any physical disability, he contracted a disease at about age 17 and lost the ability to use his legs which resulted in him being confined to a wheelchair.
“Determined to add value to himself, he braved all odds and obtained a degree from the University of Ghana in 2005. In his quest to be a lawyer he attempted on two occasions, without success, to acquire his LLB from the UG.
Undaunted by the failure, he applied and was successful to do his LLB at Central University from 2014 to 2017.
Armed with his LLB degree, he took the 2018 ‘Makola entrance exams’ for the first time and was successful, thereby gaining admission to the Ghana School of Law to do the 2-year professional course.
His efforts was crowned with success last Thursday, 17th December, 2020, when he was called to Bar”.
