Dignitaries gather in Benin as Edo deputy governor buries mother

Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has laid his mother, Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa (nee Enabulele), to rest in Benin City amid a massive turnout of sympathisers and dignitaries.

The burial ceremony turned festive as heavy traffic engulfed parts of Benin City following the arrival of guests who attended the event.

Madam Idahosa passed away last month at the age of 95.

Her remains were accompanied in a procession through major streets in Benin City before being taken to her residence for lying in-state.

Several prominent personalities attended the burial ceremony.

The Forum of Deputy Governors of Nigeria was represented by three deputy governors at the event. They included Sam Ude of Benue State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi of Akwa Ibom State, and Dr. Peter Akpe of Bayelsa State.

Also present were Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, represented by the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Matthew Uroghide, Edo APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe, as well as members of the party’s State Working Committee, among others.
