DIG, lawmaker debunk alleged attack on Akeredolu’s wife
The Nigeria Police Force has denied claims in a video that the First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Akeredolu, was attacked and injured at a polling unit.
Mrs Akeredolu was reported to have been injured when she and some security aides of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu allegedly invaded a polling unit in Owo.
This has been described as false by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Ondo State governorship election, Mr Leye Oyebade.
He said, “We have checked and found out that the report is not true. That Owo incident is not true, the area is calm. There is nothing like that.”
The report was also debunked by the lawmaker representing Owo Constituency 1 at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.
He said, “There is no crisis here. I am sure the First Lady will not do anything like that.”
Oluwole who spoke in an interview with journalists at Unit 16 Ward 3, Igboroko, Owo, commended INEC and security agencies for an excellent job.
