Love him, hate him, Arsène Wenger was at the helm of an absolute revolution at Arsenal and should be respected by any fan of the game.

For as long as I can remember I’m an Arsenal Fan
When @ThierryHenry left it was one of the saddest days of my life, however I knew it would eventually happen
I’ve never seen an @Arsenal without Arsene Wenger and I don’t know how to feel about it
I’m sad his last 2 seasons were

Cant wait to hear what Mourinho has to say about Wenger. I expect nothing but accolades. … but then, everybody loves you when you’re gone.

Wenger changed the game. It’s a shame he went out the way he did. #MerciArsene

#WengerOut Huge respect to Arsene wenger, changing the style of play i.e from long ball to beautiful passing football. Though we miss him as a @ManUtd fan we have now one more competitior for next year’s premier league otherwise @Arsenal would have been fighting for top4?

You’ve got to respect what Wenger has achieved in English football, the man revolutionised the modern day professionalism of the game and paved the way for a different breed of footballer and tactics.

Did Wenger get sacked or resign himself? Getting sacked enhances mentality. Resigning beta. Like a ‘rage quit11’ on FIFA

Don’t know you. Wenger is the best coach in the world #OneWenger

The board might sign a buffhead who might have us playing like Stoke, and we might never ever see Wenger-Ball again.

Wenger leaving Arsenal is the last piece of my childhood gone

All the best to Arsene Wenger. Achieved the unthinkable with the Invincibles and always struck me as a genuinely classy man. Enjoyed some epic Liverpool vs Arsenal battles over the years. Absolute legend of the game! #AFC #LFC pic.twitter.com/t70XJefLOD

We can all praise Wenger for being a largely successful manager and ground breaker in English football as well as admit that the game has left him behind and should have left the club about 3-5 years ago.

Massive respect to Wenger for all he achieved at Arsenal. Shaped the way modern football has gone, and was ahead of his time.

Now that #Wenger is leaving can we revisit our happier soccer dates?@w_otyenoh @IvanObutu @robertbalamino #hopefulforArsenal

The cynic in me would say that the reason Wenger has announced he’s leaving now is an attempt to fill the stadium for the rest of the season. #Wenger #MerciArsene

The same pundits wishing Arsene Wenger good luck and best wishes, are the same pundits that were calling for his head not 2 months ago. Any club would have been happy to have him as manager, @Arsenal fans are spoilt and need to be worried about a choppy transition period.#Wenger

End of my PL childhood now Wenger is going. He subtly helped the loss of fergie. Not gonna be same without him! 🙁

Retweeted Tobi (@Tobjizzle):
As a United fan, I thought I was ready for Wenger to leave but I’m not. The memories of the intense United vs Arsenal rivalry during my childhood have all come rushing back. It’s not the same these days but he was like the last remaining piece?

#Wenger news is kind of surreal. Overdue and glad he’s leaving of course, but what a legend. Truly one of the best to ever do it.

Hard to believe that Wenger is actually going to leave. Have to appreciate all he did for @Arsenal, especially the Invincibles. #MerciArsene
