Tanzanian music star, Diamond Platnumz, has removed his recent Instagram post commending President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her achievements across various sectors, following escalating political unrest in the country.

The singer deleted all posts he had previously shared in support of President Suluhu and her campaign. Reports from Mwanzotv also indicated that Diamond Platnumz has fled to Mombasa, Kenya, as tensions and protests continue to mount in Tanzania.

President Suluhu, the flagbearer of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party, had received endorsements from several Tanzanian celebrities, including Diamond Platnumz, during her re-election campaign.

The protests, which erupted on Thursday, followed a disputed general election marred by the disqualification and arrest of key opposition figures.

Demonstrators have called for the annulment of the election results, citing widespread irregularities in the presidential vote.

In a related development, a clothing store owned by Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, reportedly valued at $780 million, was allegedly set on fire by protesters.

However, reacting to the speculation, Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, dismissed the reports, clarifying that the store was looted during the unrest but not burnt.
