Chinonso Arubayi, wife of late West Africa Idol star and top Nigerian gospel artiste, Eric Arubayi, has opened up on her painful journey after the husband’s demise.
Speaking to TVC/WakeupNigeria, Chinonso said she lived in denial after her husband’s death because they were a praying family.
She said she felt God had betrayed her by permitting her husband to die.
She also opened up on her other struggles and finally accepting her husband’s death.
“My husband & I lived a faith based life. When he died, I lived in denial because I felt betrayed by God that my husband, a Gospel artiste, could die.
“I fell into depression, shaved my hair and wouldn’t accept inspirational messages from well-wishers,” she said.
Further speaking on how she coped after her devastating loss, she said.
“In order to pay my own bills, cater for my son and convince people to allow me make them up, I had to start looking good again.
“From there, I started my make up line and media hustle,” she added.
Eric Arubayi jnr died in 2017 at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara. He was 34 years old.
Confirming the demise of the gospel artiste, his brother, Derreck Arubayi, in a chat with Vanguard, had explained that the deceased took ill after taking an expired drug meant to treat his malaria and typhoid ailment.
Eric, a son of a former Vice Chancellor of the Delta State University, Eric Arubayi, was a worship leader at the House on the Rock Church in Lagos.
