A single mother in Rivers identified as Princess Folashade Eloho Bello, has allegedly committed suicide on Sunday, following severe depression.
A friend of the deceased told our correspondent that Eloho, was a single mother to a teenage boy, adding that the deceased was an indigene of Ogun state, but lived in Port Harcourt where she ran a small business.
The friend who didn’t want her name mentioned said the deceased was devastated by the hardships occasioned by the COVID-19 lockdown in the state, as she spent all her business capital in the process.
The source noted that the deceased after being disappointed by friends who offered to assist, decided to take her life.
She said, “I know her, she is from Abeokuta, Ogun state and my Facebook friend, she sales of soft drinks in her shop, but during the last lockdown she was really affected financially, she could not provide for herself and her son, so she sought for help from friends but was disappointed.
“I noticed it from her Facebook post that she needed support financially because she was struggling to meet up her financial needs, as she used up all her business capital during the lockdown.
“I was shocked to hear two days after her post on Friday, June 19, that she took her life after drinking poisonous substance, leaving behind her teenage son Chrystal”.
It was however learnt that the deceased left a suicide note on her Facebook wall before committing suicide on Sunday, June 21.
The note reads, “Do people really understand what it means
giving someone hope? I guess not.
“Because if they did, they wouldn’t just
postpone or cancel. Don’t promise if you know it’s just for fun. Some of us actually live for that time, get disappointed and loose the courage to go on.
“Well, thanks for all the broken promises,
I look forward to Peace ahead.” She lamented.
A mental health counsellor who broke the news on social media, disclosed that the deceased had bought self-help books from him in 2018, but was shocked to hear about the deceased’s suicide.
“This pretty Lady by name Princess Folashade Eloho Bello took her life. She
