Nigerian TV host, Denrele Edun has said people around him find it incredible when he is being compared to cross dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

The media personality, who spoke in a chat on “Off the top” with VJ Adams, said his personality thrives on talent, competency and authenticity.

Speaking on how he feels whenever he is compared with anyone who is not in the same space as he is, Denrele said:

“I think everyone in some sort of way who wants to seek a different identity like a sexuality that is fluid decide that if they want to get it done the first person to get a large chunk of popularity off from has to be Denrele.”

On Bobrisky, he said:

“It started with the occasional things they were throwing at me. The first time I ever met this person you are talking about, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye a.k.a Bobrisky was at Toyin  Lawani’s place.

“Another person will find it very disheartening to say this is someone who is just trying to build an identity that is so far- fetched away from yours. Mine thrives of self-definition, transparency, authenticity. At first a lot of people around me didn’t find it funny being compared to Bobrisky.”

When asked if he is a cross-dresser, the TV host declared that he is not a cross-dresser.

“I am not a cross dresser, because I have come to realize that  there are still some intricacies of cross-dressing that I don’t even know.

“It will shock you to know that I can’t even apply make-up. It just had to do with the fact that is started wearing different kind of shoes. The clothes I wear are like an extension of my personality.”

On what he missed about TV since he has been doing more of emcee recently, Denrele said:

“What I missed most about TV are the chaos, the pandemonium, and tsunami effect of working round the clock, where one person is a multi-tasker and you have to get everything done yourself.”
