The Oyo State Government has taken a significant step in compensating individuals and businesses affected by the ongoing construction of the Ibadan Circular Road, also known as the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road.

A business owner along the Ajia, Egbeda road, whose property was demolished to make way for the project, has received over N100 million in compensation.

The cheque was presented to Messers Fasbok Global Resource Limited in Ajia Egbeda, Ibadan, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi. The presentation of part payment was made on Friday, October 5, 2023.

Mrs. Adebiyi emphasized the Oyo State Government’s commitment to supporting industrial development in the region. She also mentioned that the state had previously compensated farmers along the circular road project, with their produce being assessed and valued by the state’s ministry of agriculture and natural resources.

The circular road project aims to connect the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to the Ibadan-Ife expressway, alleviating traffic congestion within Ibadan and improving travel time.

The project, which has been in the works for years, has faced delays and challenges under various administrations. However, under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, progress is being made, with the road officially named after Senator Rashidi Ladoja on September 29, 2022.

The compensation provided to affected individuals and businesses demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the impact of infrastructure development projects on local communities.
