A final year student at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State, was electrocuted while in the process of installing solar panels on a one-story building near a commercial bank in the Warri Garage Area on October 19, 2023.

According to witnesses, the student’s aluminum ladder became magnetized due to its proximity to high-tension wires connected to a neighboring commercial bank. As a result, he suffered an electric shock during the installation.

Fortunately, a brave passerby noticed the situation and used a long dry plank to safely dislodge the aluminum ladder from the live high-tension wires, to rescue the young man.

The final-year PTI student, who was in the midst of writing his final project at the time of the incident, was immediately rushed to a nearby private clinic for treatment.

Tragically, he reportedly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the private clinic.

Meanwhile, the remains of the late student, who resided with his parents in the nearby Bowen Avenue area, were laid to rest in his home state in one of the South-Eastern states on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
