Delta CEO reacts as plane crashes at Toronto airport

Delta Airlines CEO, Ed Bastian, has expressed concern over the crash of one of the airline’s aircraft at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, assuring that the company is working to confirm details of the incident.

The aircraft, which took off from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, reportedly flipped over while attempting to land at Toronto Pearson.

According to CBS News, at least eight people sustained injuries, though the severity of their conditions remains unclear.

Reacting to the incident, Bastian took to LinkedIn to acknowledge the distress caused by the accident and to appreciate the swift response of emergency personnel.

“The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport.

“I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site. We are working to confirm the details and will share the most current information on news.delta.com as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe,” Bastian wrote.

Earlier, a tragic collision between an American Airlines jet and a Black Hawk Army helicopter in Washington, D.C., claimed the lives of all 64 passengers and military personnel on board.

Additionally, a private medical aircraft crashed in Philadelphia while returning to Mexico, killing all seven passengers and one person on the ground.
