The Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State Branch, has declared that the medical report being circulated by social media influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, as proof of her breast cancer diagnosis is a forgery.

In an official statement dated April 1, 2026, the association revealed that the document, which purports to have been issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Enugu State and signed by consultant pathologist Dr O.A. Odigwe, is actually an altered version of a genuine medical result belonging to another patient, Mbara Deborah .

The statement, signed by NMA Delta State Chairman Dr Adaigho Ighomaro Israel and Secretary Dr Usamah E. Hannah, listed five key facts to clear the air:

1. Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State, and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro.
2. The facility was contacted in May 2025 by a doctor from a private hospital in Asaba to do a confirmatory test on a possible case of breast cancer for his patient, Mbara Deborah.
3. The test was done and the result issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on May 9, 2025.
4. A copy of that result is the one being circulated online, with Mbara Deborah’s name.
5. The online version is the original issued to the patient through her hospital .

The NMA described the circulating version as “the altered report being paraded by Blessing Okoro” and warned the public to be guided accordingly.

“This clarification is deemed necessary in view of what the altered report being paraded by Blessing Okoro is now being used for. The members of the public should therefore be guided accordingly,” the statement read.

The association called on law enforcement authorities to intervene, stating, “The integrity of our association and its members is very paramount and should not therefore be taken for granted. We call on the authorities responsible for maintaining law and order to do the needful and save the unsuspecting members of the public from being taken undue advantage of.”

The controversy began when Blessing CEO announced she was battling stage 4 breast cancer, shaved her head, and appealed for financial support. Reports estimate that she received about N13 million in donations .

In an interview with the web show Young and Healthy Bros, she had said, “I don’t have stage 4 cancer. That was a miscommunication. The money raised is not hundreds of millions, as some people think. It’s just 13 million naira. I will not post my results online because it’s personal, and I don’t owe anyone an apology” .

However, the NMA’s confirmation of the forgery has led to calls for her arrest and prosecution. Legal experts say she could face charges including forgery, identity theft, and obtaining money under false pretences .

As of Tuesday morning, the Mbara family’s legal team has confirmed that a formal petition has been submitted to the police .
