Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, accusing the party of being hijacked by anti-democratic forces.
In a resignation letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu said his decision takes effect immediately.
“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,” he wrote. “It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress.”
Momodu, who once contested for the presidency under the PDP, thanked the party leaders in his ward for their support over the years.
His move to the ADC adds to the growing number of politicians leaving the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
