Lazio concluded their 2025-26 Serie A season with a 2-1 triumph over Pisa on Saturday evening at the Olimpico di Roma in a game involving Super Eagles midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.
Akinsanmiro is expected to link up with the Nigeria squad ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup in the coming days, while the former Manchester City academy player Dele-Bashiru has also been named in the team for upcoming prestige friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
Pisa opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Michel Aebischer delivered a precise ball into the area for Moreo, who rose highest to head past the goalkeeper and give the visitors the advantage.
Lazio responded ten minutes later through Dele-Bashiru, who calmly finished off a well-worked attacking move initiated by Belahyane to restore parity for the home side. Pedro then completed the turnaround in the 35th minute with the winning goal.
The first half of the campaign proved challenging for Dele-Bashiru, whose progress was hindered by fitness setbacks and his participation with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
After returning from Morocco, Biancocelesti coach Maurizio Sarri showed confidence in the midfielder by including him in every matchday squad for the rest of the season.
The Nigerian international appeared in every subsequent fixture, missing only the scoreless draw against Cagliari, where he remained on the bench throughout the encounter.
If he stays with Lazio next season, Dele-Bashiru will not feature in European competition after the Rome-based club ended the campaign in ninth place in Serie A and also suffered defeat to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
