Former England international, Dele Alli, has been included in Como’s matchday squad for the first time ahead of their Serie A clash against Roma on Sunday.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined the Italian side on an 18-month contract with an option for an additional year, is aiming to revive his football career after a difficult period.

Dele moved to Italy late last year to train with Como, managed by former Spain and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas. His signing was part of a busy winter transfer window for the club, which is currently seven points above the relegation zone.

Como hopes Dele’s experience will boost their fight to maintain their Serie A status. The club has shown ambition by strengthening their squad as they look to build momentum in the second half of the season.

Dele’s career has seen a significant decline since he left Tottenham Hotspur for Everton in January 2022. He struggled for form at Everton, making only 13 appearances without scoring a goal. He was later loaned out to Turkish side Besiktas at the end of the 2022 season.

In 2023, Dele opened up about his mental health struggles and revealed he had been sexually abused as a child. His candid interview drew widespread support from fans and footballers alike.

During his time at Tottenham, Dele was a key player, forming a strong partnership with Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. He scored 67 goals over seven seasons and played in the 2019 Champions League final.

As Como prepares to face an in-form Roma side, fans are eager to see if Dele Alli will make his long-awaited debut and begin a new chapter in his career.
